This beautiful squiggly crack is a climbing route called Policka, located on the tower Hrad. I had already seen a photo of this route online, but when I was wandering between the towers, I stumbled upon the line by chance. I couldn’t wait to climb it. And wow, what a great climb! The route wasn’t difficult overall, except for one tough and intimidating offwidth section (the wide gap part after the route goes straight up).

Your imagination runs wild when you see these towers in Adršpach. Behind this beautiful view is a hidden maze of big gray giants. Can you identify the king and the queen? When you are an early bird you will be the only one in this paradise. We went from one surprise to another. Every climbing route even more beautiful than the other.

We took a route through the forest from Skaly. It's day one of our climbing trip in the Czech Republic. After half an hour we're suddenly faced with high gray walls leading to a narrow passage. A beautiful valley with endless trails. We are full of expectation of what awaits us!

.... even more possible climbing routes!

Ferns and trees sprout everywhere—on terraces, clinging out of cracks, all at different heights. It’s dizzying sometimes, walking around and constantly shifting my gaze, trying to take it all in.

The sandstone forms continue to amaze us and is tarting to stimulate the imagination. What sound would this organ make?

Michael van Gemen climbing the last section of a wide splitter.
Petr, who led the climb, had to solo all the way up to the only ring where you see Michael in the photo. Classic climbing here is no joke. If you can keep your nerves in check, you’ll make it — it’s all about focus. No room for doubt.

Michael is climbing this route without me as his his belayer—there’s just no way to secure this wide crack. So I have plenty of time to take a picture.

The absence of any protection on that wide crack in Adršpach made letting go of fear my most profound memory from my first wide crack there. On my initial attempt, I was overcome with shakiness halfway up, utterly convinced I was going to fall. But on my second try, with some newfound confidence, I climbed directly to the only ring where this photo was snapped.

This was the reason I went to the Czech Republic, an monster Offwidth . A wall with one big splitter. A fantastic line, after 3 attempts I just did´t make it. The route is physically and mentally one of the toughest and longest Offwidth routes I encountered so far.

It just delightful slacklining in the forest.above a soft carpet of grass.
